Welcome to the Colony Football Offseason Workout Page!
Our offseason training is an essential part of building strength, speed, and endurance for the upcoming season. Workouts will be posted on the website calendar. These sessions are designed to help every player reach their full potential, both individually and as part of the team.
This link outlines what our workouts look like and provides details for players and parents. It explains what athletes can do whether they’re able to attend team workouts or need to complete them on their own.
All athletes should enter through the exterior door on the right side of the school, next to the locker rooms. Please remember that proper workout attire is required at all times—athletic clothes and shoes are a must, while sandals, crocs, or bare feet are not permitted. Workout clothes and shoes that are RED OR BLUE ARE NOT ALLOWED, the player will be asked to change. We pride ourselves on being united and together. Those colors are not our school colors and are those of our rivals. We expect all players to follow this team rule.
If a player is not enrolled in weight training with Coach Magner, a parent/guardian must complete an Offseason Activity Participation Form and submit it to one of the coaches prior to attending.
The weightlifting program follows the BFS (Bigger Faster Stronger) system, focusing on the three core lifts: bench press, squat, and clean. Speed training will also be incorporated, and each player will be tested to measure their progress over time. Testing and attendance will be tracked by Coach Dahl, the Head Coach, and this information will help us monitor individual growth throughout the offseason.
We understand that some players may have other sports commitments or transportation challenges. While offseason workouts are not mandatory for team participation, we encourage all athletes to check in with Coach Dahl, especially during testing weeks, so we can ensure each player is progressing. The goal of these workouts is to prepare our athletes to compete at the highest level, it is crucial for building the strength and cohesion needed to win that our players are prepared physically and unified as a team.
For incoming freshmen, these new players will have the opportunity to attend afternoon workouts with Coach Dahl and the coaching staff. These sessions will be tailored to introduce them to the fundamentals of weight and speed training at the high school level, helping them develop proper techniques and prepare for the upcoming season. The workouts will be scheduled in the afternoon, twice a week, to make it easier for middle school players to attend. Once the dates and times have been finalized, they will be updated on this page and the website calendar.
